Rwanda and Germany sign air transport agreement.

Kigali, 24th September, 2014-The Governments of Rwanda and the Federal Republic of Germany signed the Air Transport Agreement to foster Aviation relationship and bilateral cooperation.The signing ceremony was held at the Ministry of Infrastructure Headquarters, Kacyiru at 10:00am.

Honorable Dr. Alexis Nzahabwanimana, the Minister of State in charge of Transport in the Ministry of infrastructure signed the Agreement on behalf of the Government of Rwanda an H.E Peter Fahrenhltz the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Rwanda signed on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The bilateral agreement however is signed after aviation negotiations of August 2010 between the two governments to allow international commercial air transport services between their territories.

The air transport agreement between the States aims to promote an international aviation system based on competition among airlines in the marketplace with minimum government interference and regulation.

After the implementation of the agreement therefore, it will facilitate the expansion of international air transport opportunities, including through the development of air transportation networks to meet the needs of passengers and shippers for convenient air transportation services.

The agreement will also enable airlines to offer the travelling and shipping public competitive prices and services in open markets.

The two governments aim at having all sectors of the air transport industry, including airline workers, benefit in a liberalized agreement.

The bilateral agreement will also ensure the highest degree of safety and security in international air transport and reaffirm their grave concern about acts or threats against the security of aircrafts, persons or property.
