Transport Minister launches Unity and Reconciliation week in Nyaruguru

The Minister of State in charge of Transport at the Ministry of infrastructure, Dr. Alexis Nzahabwanimana, has urged the local leaders in Nyaruguru district to live a role model life based on “Ndi Umunyarwanda” to help other citizens to openly talk about the country’s sad history, towards shaping a bright future.

Officiating at the launch of the unity and reconciliation week in Nyaruguru district, southern province, on Monday 25th November 2013, Dr. Nzahabwanimana said that much have been done to build peace, unity and reconciliation in the country, but there is still a need for everyone to be on board, and own the process.


“Through the “Ndi Umunyarwanda” program, all Rwandans will share their personal experience with sincerity, openness and truth, all aimed at picking lessons from the past history to shape the bright future” the Minister said.

The event was characterized by open discussions and testimonies, which helped people to share views about the tragic history that the country went through, the role of every one to rebuild the country, the importance of seeking for forgiveness, repentance, and forgiving. Participants also promised the exemplary commitment to support the “Ndi Umunyarwanda” program.

“Ndi Umunyarwanda” is an initiative that aims at encouraging Rwandans to openly talk about the country’s dark history, apologise, forgive, and work towards building the country’s bright future with united citizens.
