The new CEO of Rwandair takes up office

Kigali, 10 April 2018: Minister of State in charge of Transport, Hon. Eng. Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye officiated the handover ceremony between the outgoing Ag. Chief Executive Officer of RwandAir, Col. Chance Ndagano and the new Chief Executive Officer Ms. Yvonne Manzi Makolo appointed to this position on 06 April 2018. 

 

The ceremony was also witnessed by the RwandAir Vice-Chairperson of the Board, Eng. Patricie Uwase and Senior Management.

 

In his remarks, Honorable Minister of State Eng. Uwihanganye thanked the outgoing CEO for his contribution and promised the new CEO the Ministry’s full support in her new responsibilities to make RwandAir an airline of obvious choice in the market.

 

The outgoing CEO, Col. Chance Ndagano thanked the RwandAir management, the RwandAir Board of Directors and the staff in general for their support in all that the company had achieved in the past one year. Col. Ndagano Chance also commended the new CEO “I am very confident that Yvonne as someone I have been working together with, will carry on from here and make RwandAir a success” he said.

 

He added that the board members and senior management of RwandAir should carry on their support and take RwandAir to the next level.

 

Ms. Yvonne Makolo in her statement thanked Col.Chance Ndagano for his contribution towards the growth of the airline. “It has been a pleasure and honor working with you to grow the airline.” She also added “I also appreciate the support of our line Ministry and the board of Directors and look forward to continuing working with you in this new position.” 

 

With a fleet of twelve aircraft including two wide-body Airbus A330 acquired last year, RwandAir currently reaches out to twenty-four (24) destinations across East, Central, West and Southern Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia.

 

Last year, RwandAir started flights from Kigali to Mumbai, Harare, London (Gatwick) and Brussels as well as Dakar from its new hub in Cotonou. RwandAir also introduced flights to Abidjan, Libreville and Brazzaville from its Cotonou hub. This year, RwandAir is planning to fly to Abuja in Nigeria, Cape Town in South Africa in April and May, respectively.
