Minister of Infrastructure, Hon. James Musoni congratulates WASAC for quick transformation

Kigali, May 1, 2016, Honorable James Musoni, the Minister of Infrastructure joined Water and Sanitation Corporation Limited (WASAC) management &staff during the celebrations of World Labor Day 2016 to praise them for received accolades in recognition of improved performance.

Last month of April WASAC obtainedtwoInternational Awards in recognition of its better-quality performance in line with supplying clean water to people.

The first Award is Water Leaders Award 2016 given to WASAC in Abu Dhabi for the performance improvement as a water utility in the developing world in 2015.The Second accolade is Culligan Leading Edge Award 2015 received in Huntington, US in recognition to the speed at which Nzove 2 Water Treatment Project was executed.

While officially presenting the awards to the Minister of Infrastructure, the CEO WASAC, James SANO was thankful for the notable support that enabled the company to perform efficiently.

“We warmly applaud the Ministry of Infrastructure for the support provided to us to attain these prestigious achievements, we pledge to achieve more.” Sano said.

Sano called upon WASAC staff to beware that the company cannot achieve sustainable success with a minimum commitment. “We still have a long way to go, each and every one has to perform maximally to achieve the target we have set of supplying clean water to 100% of Rwandans by 2020”

In his remarks to WASAC management and staff, Honorable James Musoni, commended WASAC for obtaining International awards in recognition of its improved performance in line with supplying clean water to people. “Congratulations WASAC for excellent achievements, you have upraised the image of Rwanda internationally, by keeping this institutional culture of excellence you will achieve more, the Ministry will continue to support in the journey of supplying clean water to all Rwandans”. Minister said.

Minister Musoni argued WASAC staff to scale up good cohesion and set out well-timed targets to maintain the culture of excellence. “You have better implemented His Excellency desire of good performance oriented work. Your culture of excellence must always be centered to good cohesion.” He said.

Minister Musoni pleaded the management of WASAC to put much effort in addressing sewage management related issues.

The Current EICV4 status shows that 84.8% of Rwandan population has access to a clean drinking water and 83.4% of households have improved sanitation facilities.
