Minister Gatete ensures Government support for the development of Musanze Industrial Park

Kigali, 05 December 2018: Minister of Infrastructure, Honorable Claver Gatete reiterated the support of the Government of Rwanda in working towards addressing issues affecting the industry performance in the country.

 

Minister Gatete made this statement during a site visit at Musanze Industrial park to assess the progress so far made by the industries and the possible challenges they are facing.

 

During this visit, Minister Gatete appreciated the current status on the site which is ready for development. The site has access to basic infrastructure services including water, electricity and roads. However, he observed the need to fully improve and connect the existing facilities on the site.

 

Minister Gatete assured the District authorities that the Government is looking into current challenges that affect the good performance of the industry sector such as electricity, water and road networks.

 

Minister Gatete visited Prime Cement factory, the only firm that started construction works in the site with a plan to make it operational by August 2019.  He encouraged local leaders to collaborate in mobilizing more investors to run their business in the park. He said that more factories in the District will directly contribute in creating new off-farm jobs and trigger economic activity in the area.
