Mobisol Solar power providers committed to deliver affordable electricity to Rwandans

Nyamata 22nd May 2014-Mobisol, the Berlin-based provider of Solar electrification through Affordable price solar systems celebrated the official inauguration of Mobisol Rwanda Ltd and their rising numbers of solar home system installations with a grand opening in Kanazi cell,Nyamata sector-Bugesera District.

The event was officiated by the Honorable Minister of Infrastructure, Prof.Silas Lwakabamba. He pledged full support to connecting rural households with off-grid solutions as key contributors to energy access now and in the future. Other dignitaries present included His Excellency the Ambassador of Germany to Rwanda,Mr.Peter FahrenholtzBugesera .Louis Rwagaju the Mayor of Bugesera District,Mr.Thomas Gottschalk the General Manager Mobisol Rwnda Ltd and other development partners.Mobisol Rwanda can electrify 1,000,000 households within 500 days. The project already installed 424 solar home systems in Rwanda.

Mobisol will provide access to affordable and clean electricity for low-income communities in Rwanda, provides training services and education to the local staff and combines generating power from solar energy sources with innovative mobile technology and IT solutions that meets customer needs towards satisfaction.

Mobisol is targeting to sale at least 49,000 Units to households and 1,000 schools. This is equal to 4.9MW-installed capacity in households and 3MW in schools. The expected displacement per household is approximately 300 kg of CO2, which amounts to roughly 15.300t per year.

Only a small percentage of the rural population in Rwanda has access to electricty that’s why we should embark on off-grid electrification that will pay a very prominent role in electrifying households lacking access.”Minister added”.
