29th June, 2016 - Rwanda is gearing up for the African Union Summit scheduled to take place in Kigali from July 10- July 18, 2016 and it will be hosted in one of the newest facilities, the Kigali Convention Centre to be officially launched soon.

Kigali Convention Centre is just 5 kilometers from the bustling city center and Kigali International Airport (KGL), the Centre comprises a five-star hotel, the Radisson Blue Hotel with 292 rooms and suites pamper guests with amenities that include private balconies and free high-speed wireless Internet, two on-site restaurants. For a lighter fare or a relaxing nightcap, the Hotel has a Lobby Bar & Lounge. The facility hold within a total of 18 meeting rooms including a state-of-the-art auditorium with a capacity to accommodate more than 2,500 attendees for conventions, exhibitions, festivals and cultural happenings, and the hotel will offer 650 parking bays for guests' convenience.

For free time enjoyment guests will maintain their workout regimen in the fitness center , the outdoor swimming pool , steam bath, sauna or just wind down in the relaxation lounge all available at the Centre.

The facility will certainly be a major cash cow with its capacity to host thousands of delegates in a single meeting room, thereby strengthening Rwanda’s position as the country strives to assert itself as the most ideal place to convene meetings of international nature.

According to the Executive Chairperson of Ultimate Concepts Limited that owns the project (UCL), Eng. Didier Sagashya, the centre is valued at more than $300 million (about Rwf223 billion), poised to be a hub of service in the East African Community.

The project is owned by UCL, a joint venture co-owned by the Government of Rwanda through the Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) and Prime Holdings Ltd as well as private investors, including Crystal Ventures Ltd and Rwanda Investment Group (RIG). One of the planned major events to take place at the hotel this year is the 27th African Union Summit that will brought together more than 3,000 high-level delegates, including about 50 African Heads of State. The Summit is scheduled for July 10 to July 18, 2016, but Sagashya intensifies many other events have also been planned to take place at the convention Centre.

The facility is one of the major projects that the government has initiated to help boost the country’s tourism industry.
