Progress of road construction for a section of Gicumbi Urban roads
The project is under the government program of improving the urban transport infrastructures of selected cities. The project is funded by the GoR through Rwanda Transport Development Agency (RTDA) with GICUMBI District as beneficiary. The construction contract was awarded to “Horizon Construction Ltd” and the supervision of works to “Prisma Consult”. The construction cost is 1,907,895,515 Frw while the supervision cost is 35,400,000 Frw. The project has experienced some difficulties related to rain, expropriation, relocation of utilities, nevertheless the construction works are progressing satisfactorily.
Phase one of the project consists of nine (9) sections namely;

2. E.A.R BYUMBA-HOSPITAL –IPB (Kamitsinga): 832.6m
3. E.T.F - E.P.R : 945.3m
4. BYUMBA MARKET – DISTRICT OFFICE: 761.134 m
5. CO.VI.GI-BYUMBA MARKET: 115m
6. RESTAURANT NEZERWA-BUTCHERY UBUMWE: 101.38m
7. BANQUE POPULAIRE –ADEPR- GARE ROUTIERE: 640m
8. SECTION TOWARD EWSA: 106.337m
9. SECTION INYANGE: 224.985m
By the end of March 2016, the overall physical progress of works was at 90%.
A saving of 12,275,174 Frw was obtained after revision of bill of quantities. The amount has been used to pay 2 months additional time for the Consultant, for which the period contract has been extended
