The Road from Kigali City Centre to Remera through Sopetrad is now open since Sunday February 2, 2014, after days of intensive reparation works due to serious damages that occurred at Kanogo roundabout, which were caused by heavy rain of last December 2013.

To repair the road, two steel culverts, each of 3meters of diameter and 30 meters of width from one side to another, were put at the place to be able to handle the huge volume of water that storms the place in such cases of heavy rains.

The other finishing works will be done while using the road, and are also expected to be completed within 30 days. The remaining works include the construction of head walls and reparation of road surface with tarmac.  

The road is being repaired by the Contractor NPD-Cotraco, under the coordination of the City of Kigali, Ministry of Infrastructure and the Rwanda Transport development Agency (RTDA).
