Mission

The National Children's Commission was set up to enhance child rights by coordinating, implementing, overseeing and monitoring the child protection system to give Rwanda’s children the opportunity to develop into productive and responsible citizens,”of which will endeavor to achieve.

Our values are the things we believe in that drive the way we do things. To achieve our vision we need to respect, adopt and be proud of the norms, behaviours and patterns that we identify ourselves with as NCC in our operations.

Advocating for the rights of participation and dialogue so that the child grows feeling his or her needs/ wants are not dictated upon, sometimes they are arrived at after discussion.

Advocate for justice and mitigating all possible avenues that are likely to drive in child rights
abuse

NCC Strategic Objectives

  1. Ensure that children know and apply national values, enjoy their rights and are aware of their responsibilities as Rwandan citizens;
  2. Ensure participation of relevant national partners ( including families and communities)in promoting child rights and national values;
  3. Ensure the implementation of the Hague convention on protection of children and cooperation in the interest of the child;
  4. Ensure that all children including children with special needs enjoy the right to a family and are protected against all forms of violence with special attention to sexual violence and abuse;
  5. Ensure mainstreaming of child issues in the National policies, plans and programs;
  6. Ensure availability of relevant information on the situation of the child rights and on the implementation of national laws and international child-related conventions ratified by Rwanda;
  7. Ensure NCC institutional, technical and financial capacity to achieve its mission;
  8. Promote partnership and cooperation at National, regional and international levels.
